Review of Master Chuck’s “Combat 2 vs. 1 ” DVD
Master Chuck Gauss recently released a new 2 vs 1 DVD, entitled “Combat 2 vs 1.” This is the sequel to an earlier DVD that covered the basics of the two sticks vs. one drill. Disclosure: I was the training partner/uke in both videos.
Two sticks vs one stick drill is a staple of Master Chuck’s Modern Arnis as it teaches one to become proficient with both hands. This was designed to train both hands simultaneously and incorporate various concepts of Modern Arnis. Once you gain proficiency in the two vs one drill, your single stick technique will become more explosive.

In the new “Combat 2 vs 1” DVD, Master Chuck covers various techniques such as entries, abanico corto/hirada, and palis palis. He also incorporates thrusts, hitting, positioning, disarms, locks, snaking, sinawali applications, counters, takedowns, and translations to single stick. Master Gauss demonstrates his explosive skills as well as his phenomenal teaching ability.

Although the above two clips are not from the DVD being reviewed, the techniques are similar. To increase your proficiency in single-stick tapi tapi, I recommend that you learn the 2 vs. 1 drill.
The benefits are that you will learn to fight with either hand. For example, you will be able to execute the abanico corto technique with either hand. The same goes for other Modern Arnis concepts like palis palis, disarms, and so much more. You will learn striking with either hand. How about that??
I highly recommend Master Chuck’s “Combat 2 vs 1” DVD!
