Video of the Week 4: Using the Center Line
Awareness of and mastering the center line is crucial for any martial artist.
Quick aside: This is the last video available to the public. Starting next week, only subscribers can access these videos after this initial period.

In martial arts, the center line is the invisible axis running down the middle of one’s body. Awareness of this concept is crucial for both offensive and defensive strategies.
Controlling the center line allows martial artists to protect their most vital areas while disrupting their opponent’s balance. In other words, “protect your center line and attack theirs!”
Moreover, by maintaining a strong and aligned center, a martial artist can enhance their stability and force generation, making each movement more efficient and powerful.
This concept is the bedrock of precision, control, and tactical superiority in striking and grappling.
Combine good footwork with a strong center line, and you’re on the way!
Other News
I started writing an e-book in 2020 or 2021 but had to put it on the back burner due to life getting in the way. It’s a combination of the pandemic, taking care of my mother-in-law and my hip surgery. I have resumed the e-book project. I’ve changed the title and rearranged some chapters. I’ve got a long way to go, though!
Here’s a downloadable sampler that I created in 2021. It’s a bit out of date, but it will give you an idea of what it will look like.
Stay tuned for updates on the e-book!
