Back to Teaching!
Yes, you read that right! I’m back to teaching!
I apologize for not blogging since mid-July due to summertime activities and hosting various family members.
Most of you know I had to dissolve Bamboo Spirit as a business entity. I don’t want to go into the gory details, but my new accountant recommended that I take this step. Unfortunately, I had gotten erroneous advice (that might result in potential issues with the IRS) from a now-deceased accountant regarding Bamboo Spirit and a couple of personal tax matters.
Since the dissolution of Bamboo Spirit, I am now teaching under the 6Tigers Academy umbrella, owned by Shihan Janet Lawless. This way, I will avoid potential IRS issues (as I discovered belatedly with Bamboo Spirit).
For starters, I am still teaching private lessons and Zoom classes.
On top of this, I am now teaching children’s classes under the 6Tigers umbrella. The location of the classes will be at the Harmony Martial Arts Center in Pickering.
The classes will be taking place on Tuesday and Friday nights as follows:
6:00 pm to 6:45 pm – Children (ages 7 through 11)
6:45 pm to 7:30 pm – Youth (ages 12 through 17)

AND, the flyer (below) for the 12 to 17-year-olds!
What will I be teaching?
Modern Arnis, of course!
What is Modern Arnis? Modern Arnis is a stick-fighting martial art from the Philippines. What is more fun than swinging sticks at your friends? Based on my past experiences, kids LOVE this stuff.
Here’s a sample of what I have taught in the past and will teach at the Harmony Martial Arts Center.
