The Light At the End Of The Tunnel?
Just a few days after I ranted about the absurd ban on outdoor recreational activity, Ontario announced its re-opening plan. First, the ban on outdoor recreational activities was lifted effective Saturday, May 22nd. Yay! Is this the light at the end of the tunnel?
Public health experts have praised this new plan. This praise is a change from the past, with heavy criticism of the erratic management of the COVID-19 crisis. The new plan actually makes sense. The infographic below lays it out nicely.
According to the Ontario COVID-19 Tracker (as of 6:00 pm May 25th), 52.313% of Ontario have received their first dose. If this is accurate, Ontario has a bit to go before entering Step One of the reopening. As one can see from the infographic below, Step One kicks in when 60% of Adults have had one dose.
What does this mean for live private training? Look at the list of permitted activities in Step One. One of them is “outdoor sports, training, and personal training for up to 10 people.”
YES!!
I have not seen my students since late December and can’t wait to train with them again!
The below video is from the summer of 2019. Really looking forward to doing it this summer!

In any case, the latest projections are that Ontario will transition into Step One by mid-June. Given the vaccination rates, I hope that it’s earlier than mid-June. We shall see! It appears that there is light at the end of the tunnel!
Besides training, I hope to shoot more YouTube videos. It’s much easier to come up with content with a partner than solo videos. Speaking of which, I have used iMovie to edit videos. I’ve been using Final Cut Pro (essentially an upgraded version of iMovie) for the last couple of months, and I love it. I can do a lot more with this than with iMovie. The price tag is a bit steep, but I think I will bite the bullet and upgrade to Final Cut Pro for good.
One great feature I’ve discovered is the ability to embed open captions into videos. To that end, I am captioning my Gumroad videos as an option for those who desire captions/subtitles. For this reason alone, Final Cut Pro is amazing. So stay tuned for future YouTube videos and instructional videos on Gumroad.
Let’s get to the end of the tunnel!
