My favourite developmental drill is the Modern Arnis 2 vs 1 drill I learned from
Master Chuck Gauss.

Through this drill, one can develop tremendous skills needed for single-stick fighting.
At a basic level, a practitioner will [learn](https://brianejohns.com/2020/02/24/blog-the-learning-cycle/)
how to develop ambidexterity.

Major concepts of Modern Arnis, such as sinawali, sweep strokes, palis palis, abanico
corto, locking, snaking, disarms and hitting, are introduced.

Imagine how much easier single-stick techniques will be if one can do this with
the two canes! This is an incredible tool for development.  Whenever I see [Master Chuck Gauss](https://brianejohns.com/2009/05/12/blog-a-great-seminar/),
I learn some new aspects of the [2 vs 1 drill](https://brianejohns.com/2012/07/17/blog-review-of-master-chucks-combat-2-vs-1-dvd/).
This drill’s possibilities are endless and lead to proficiency in tapi tapi.

Here’s another one.

Master Chuck learned the 2 vs 1 drill from Professor Presas. Although I am not 100%
sure, I believe this drill is based on [Espada y Daga](https://brianejohns.com/2010/11/17/blog-espada-y-daga/),
which involves a long and short weapon. See the video below.

If you can’t see the video, click [here](https://youtu.be/bLMqnJ-PK2U). As you can
see, Master Chuck employs abanico corto and multiple staccato hitting. I’m sure
that he enjoyed beating me up for this video. Ha!

I highly recommend learning this Modern Arnis drill. Your tapi tapi skills will
go through the roof!
